CCcam is a softcam (software conditional access module) for satellite receivers. It lets your receiver use a subscription card that sits in another device, over the internet, to open encrypted channels. This is called card sharing. A CCcam server is the machine that holds the cards, and a cline (C-line) is your login to that server: one line with the server address, port, username and password. You put the cline in your receiver, and the receiver asks the server for the keys it needs to show each channel.
How CCcam works
- Your dish and receiver pick up the encrypted satellite signal as usual.
- The receiver sends a small request (ECM) to the CCcam server through your internet connection.
- The server reads the card and sends back the decryption key (control word).
- The receiver uses the key to decode the picture. This repeats every few seconds.
Only small keys travel over the internet, not the video, so CCcam needs very little bandwidth. A fast, stable reply from the server is what keeps channels from freezing. See CCcam vs IPTV for how this differs from streaming.
The CCcam line (cline) format
A cline looks like this:
C: server.example.com 12000 username password
| Part | Meaning |
|---|---|
C: | Tells the softcam this is a CCcam client line |
server.example.com | Server host name or IP address |
12000 | Server port |
username password | Your login for that server |
MGcamd and Newcamd use an N-line instead, which also carries a 14-byte DES key. The free CCcam test lets you choose CCcam, MGcamd or Newcamd.
How to set up a CCcam server line
Enigma2 receiver with CCcam
- Install the CCcam softcam from your image's plugin or softcam menu.
- Open
/etc/CCcam.cfgwith an FTP program (on some images the file is/var/etc/CCcam.cfg). - Paste your cline on its own line, save, and restart the softcam.
Receivers with a CCcam menu
Many satellite receivers, including GTMedia models, have a CCcam or network menu. Enter the server, port, username and password from your cline there, save, and restart the receiver.
Using a CCcam line in OScam (convert CCcam to OScam)
OScam can connect to a CCcam server as a reader. Add this block to oscam.server with the values from your cline:
[reader]
label = kcccam
protocol = cccam
device = server.example.com,12000
user = username
password = password
cccversion = 2.3.2
group = 1
inactivitytimeout = 30
reconnecttimeout = 30
ccckeepalive = 1
Restart OScam and check the reader status in the OScam web interface.
Black screen or line not working
- Check that your line is still active (ask support for the expiry date).
- Make sure the line is really in the receiver and the receiver has internet access. Most receivers have a network test.
- Restart CCcam, then the receiver, then your router.
- If it still fails, unplug every other device from the router, restart the router, connect the receiver first, then the other devices one by one. Giving the receiver a static IP helps avoid this problem.
- Delete
CCcam.priofrom/var/etcif it exists.
These steps solve almost every problem. If not, contact support.
Where to get a CCcam line
Start with a free CCcam test for 48 hours. When it works on your receiver, choose a CCcam subscription: 2 clines from €4 for 3 months, or €12 for 1 year.

- What is a CCcam cline?
A cline (C-line) is one line of text with the server address, port, username and password, for example
C: server.example.com 12000 user pass. Your receiver uses it to log in to the CCcam server. - Where do I put the cline?
On Enigma2 boxes it goes in
/etc/CCcam.cfg(some images use/var/etc/CCcam.cfg). Many receivers also have a CCcam menu where you type the cline in. - Can I use a CCcam line in OScam?
Yes. Add the cline as a reader with protocol cccam in
oscam.server.
